Boomlift / Manlift Irvine

Used Boom Lift Irvine - In terms of popular aerial machinery, the boom lift is one of the most recognizable. Commonly known as aerial work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms, cherry pickers, aerial devices and elevating work platforms, it was engineered to complete work at higher locations more efficient and easier. Warehouses, companies, contractors and retail operations and more rely on boom lifts on a daily basis. Staying safe while working at high altitude is essential for daily success. There are numerous models of boom lifts available in the industry. Most boom lifts can be successfully run with a single operator. Boom lifts are beloved in the agricultural and orchard industries, used to harvest fruit without requiring a separate ladder, they keep workers much safer since there is not climbing or bucket balancing involved. It can be difficult to secure a ladder on farmland or in orchard settings. Harvesting fruit is much safer and simpler with a boom lift compared to using a ladder. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Some boom lift models can move up and over obstacles, making them ideal for working over top of items safely and efficiently. Having the capacity to reach an object even when you are unable to maneuver the equipment directly underneath has a variety of applications including window cleaning, telephone pole and line installation and service, fixing overhead cables and numerous other industries. The articulated boom lift is an example that has numerous joints enabling it to bend over or under items. The articulated boom sections can move independently to grant operators access to many locations. This equipment is popular in narrow storage locations and hallways thanks to its’ tight turning radius. Dual-fuel models can work both inside and outside. Diesel versions are best suited outside and electric models are preferred for interior environments. Articulating Boom Lifts Articulated boom lifts are commonly found on construction sites and used in maintenance applications. These machines are often seen servicing overhead wires and power lines. Firefighters even rely on them and some models feature water cannons. Some models are built for extended reach applications and outfitted with telescoping sections. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. These boom lifts go by the nickname of “spiders,” since their legs can support the entire machine on steep or difficult terrain. Interior articulating boom lifts are smaller and able to fit through doorways for use inside storage, warehouse and retail capacities. Electric models are preferred in interior situations due to the danger that carbon monoxide exhaust poses and how much quieter these models are. Telescopic Boom Lifts Designed otherwise, telescopic boom lift models bend differently from articulating boom lifts. Instead, they extend outwards and upwards with hydraulics that retract and extend. No second operator is required as the platform operator can extend the lift with the controls. Certain larger units feature a jib located at the top that looks similar to an articulating boom lift model. Some models of boom lifts can achieve a reach of more than 180 feet. In less than a minute, some models can reach their full extended height since these machines are so stable and reliable. There are diesel and dual-fuel options with adjustable speed and weight range options from five hundred to one thousand pounds. Boom lifts can fit through tiny spaces and there are 4WD options on the market. Telescopic booms are common in a variety of settings due to their ability to combine height and reach. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. This design facilitates an extra hinge or articulation point to enable the platform to move up and down or horizontally. Jibs are available on telescoping boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. There is an articulation point available on certain models situated halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow the machine to reach over an obstacle and be lowered again if needed. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts A well known articulating boom lift that can be seen in a variety of applications is the Genie Z-boom. Designed to provide the most versatility in difficult to access spaces, this model has the capacity to lift up, over and out with superior positioning. The first Genie Z-30/20 articulating Z-boom model was launched in 1985. Thanks to their “up an over” abilities, they have gained the ultimate popularity that continues today. Proper Safety Measures When operating any type of industrial equipment, safety is first and foremost. Safety hazards must be advertised to everyone who is working in the area for best practices. Safely operating the equipment is a top priority for the operator and everyone in the working environment. Before operating the machine, effective communication and essential safety gear need to be in place. Ensure there are no flammable or combustible items, open flame or lit cigarettes near the machine, engine fuels or battery gases. Have a properly mounted, accessible and visible fire extinguisher mounted within reach. Maintaining a clear area around charging stations and work surfaces is important as tools or clutter could damage the boom lift or cause tire punctures etc. Daily Maintenance It is important to conduct a visual inspection prior to operating and to consult the maintenance manual to ensure everything is up to date. These industrial machines rely on lifting and supportive mechanisms to stabilize the weight. Fasteners, straps and chains must be regularly checked to make sure they are safe working order. It is very dangerous to reuse single use fasteners and other components as they might fail if used beyond their recommendations. It is vital to discard oils and solvents safely and efficiently to prevent contaminating the environment. Safety can be increased with proper lighting and adequate ventilation along workbenches and within workshops and garages. Typically the wide umbrella of maintenance is distinguished by subsections such as Commissioning and Programmed Maintenance Intervals, Annual Maintenance, and Quarterly Maintenance. Maintenance Inspection Report Key components of the boom lift are divided up to categorize the inspection process. Common maintenance categories include Control and Function, Turntable, Booms, Platform, Drive Chassis and Engine. Improperly conducting maintenance can lead to unsafe working conditions, damaged components, reduced performance and ultimately downtime. A large part of keeping the boom lift secure and operational is the maintenance inspection report that ensures the operator is safe and monitors the machine’s performance and service. Commissioning refers to a list of one-time maintenance procedures to be complete at 50 hours and at 150 hour intervals. Annual and Quarterly maintenance procedures need to be performed once or multiple times a year. Programmed maintenance procedures are completed based on machine operating hours or during “pre-delivery” preparation. Prior to operating your equipment, check your maintenance manual to make sure all of the fluid levels, oil changes, battery life and maintenance are up to date. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
