Lift trucks are important pieces of equipment used widely in business, particularly in distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. A lift truck is made of hundreds of components, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts usually have different kinds of attachments also. The following are a few of the most essential parts of a lift truck.
Forklift Engine - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the machinery. Various kinds of forklift truck have various kinds of engine which require varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the lift truck parts. This forms the machine's core. All other forklift components are connected to the base, including the overhead guard, counterweight, mast, wheels and axles. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the equipment to be balanced. This particular component is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery offers balance and could work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others would be open to the air. There are numerous components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like the switches, levers, steering wheel, operator controls, seats and pedals. The dashboard has operator readouts.
