Narrow Aisle Forklifts
There are especially designed lift trucks which operate in narrow warehouse aisles. These machinery are normally referred to as narrow aisle or very narrow aisle lift trucks. They could easily negotiate smaller aisles and allow you to enjoy several benefits. For example, the increased amount of space to store stuff can greatly increase the overall available stock of a business.
The narrow aisle lift truck is made to maneuver rather easily, because they are designed particularly to operate in tight spaces. Their unique design has eliminated a lot of the things which are squished up into the design of the traditional forklift's main body.
The disadvantage of narrow aisle lift trucks is that they are very slow compared to standard forklifts. Narrow aisle forklifts would not work if you need to move things across large distances. In terms of speed they will not be a reliable choice. If you also have a regular lift truck, this will not be an issue. You can just use the narrow aisle lift truck to transport the load to a central location and then hand it off to a standard lift truck which could travel the bulk of the distance in an efficient and timely method. Frequently, narrow aisle lift trucks cannot handle as much lifting weight; therefore, outside of smaller loads they would not be very useful.
Electric Forklifts
For indoor operations such as stores or inside warehouses, traditional gas forklifts are not a suitable choice. They would not be as safe because of their fumes, or as useful or cost-efficient compared to an electric powered model. Electric forklifts are often designed to look and work a lot like gas ones, but they utilize electric batteries that should be recharged, rather than gasoline fuel.
Electric lift trucks are common for a range of reasons. For starters, they would save you lots of money on fuel expenses. At first, electric units might cost more but over time, they make up for this in the long run. Like for instance, when gas prices go up, you would not be affected and will save a lot of cash. Electric units tend to last quite a bit longer than gas powered models as well. This is partly because of the fact they are mainly utilized inside and hence don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered models. Electric models are healthier to utilize in poorly ventilated areas like indoor operations and warehouses because they don't emit noxious fumes. It could be really dangerous to use diesel or gas lift trucks inside.
The electric lift truck does have some disadvantages like the fact that they can really only work for approximately 8 hours. Afterward the machinery would need to be charged for 8 hours and rested for another 8 hours. Lots of businesses get around this condition by buying an extra battery so they could have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries emerging on the market which are also reducing the charging time.
