Types of Hydraulic Cranes
One of the most common cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are used to construct everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to skyscrapers and buildings.
There is a huge range of crane models, sizes and styles available on the market. There are many different types in order to serve a variety of different purposes in the business. Choosing the right kind of crane is really crucial for making sure that the material can be transported efficiently and safely to the place it has to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will usually have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, while the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are extremely helpful for building locations where a crane is required in numerous different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being easily driven from one location to another.
Cranes could also be transported to various construction locations on the road because they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly lessens transport costs at the end of the day.
One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Therefore, in order to fix this problem, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure in order to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
Crawler cranes feature huge tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are similar to the ones seen on other construction machinery such as backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks allow the crane to successfully move around a construction site.
