Types of Aisles
Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. These machines can turn in an aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with different units.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and normally use specific guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular kinds in compact retail areas and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are commonly utilized within warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is spacious and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and hence more productive while limiting fatigue.
