How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while trying to perform tasks which could have otherwise needed using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located inside the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, units that are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
